2009 is the Bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, considered by many to be the nation's best president.  Center for SCREEN-TIME Awareness is an official partner of the Bicentennial Commission and our program is called:

Abraham Lincoln: A Man and his Books, A Man of his Word Race, Religion and The Declaration of Independence.

There are a few reasons CSTA signed on to the bicentennial commission as a partner, the first and foremost is visiting a time in history when the most up to date technology was the telegraph.  It was a time when people had to communicate face-to-face or by the written word.  The tools of communication, the use of language, were vital to ones personal and professional success in that era.

Our first Lincoln event will take place

FEBRUARY 7th at 11:00 AM at the

PETERSEN MUSEUM (Wilshire Blvd at Fairfax)

Los Angeles, CA

There is no charge to attend the event, but you do have to RSVP
ALL are welcome, so please invite your friends and family to join you.
Much of the program will be children friendly.

We will be joined by Professor Allen Jayne and Professor Jane Waugh of UCLA.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 202-333-9220 or via

Each program will consist of three parts:

1.  Actors will recite the words Lincoln said or wrote (each location will cover a different theme, based on our overall topic).

2.  Experts in the field will relate those words to Lincoln's time and to the present, taking in to account that many may disagree on Mr. Lincoln's intentions at the time and how significantly they impact us today.

3.  An open discussion with the public, with the experts, actors and interested audience participants.

As specific information becomes available you will find it here.  If you have suggestions, would like to participate or have comments, please feel free to comment on our Forum Pages, or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
